Development Updates

January 21, 2022
Two production updates have been posted today. The first addresses a broken link in the “Resources” menu of the Flote landing page which caused some users to not be able to view the “How to Add Flote to your iOS Home Screen” instructions. This link has been fixed. The second update is for the Report Post feature which now correctly allows post reporting and generates proper emails to our support team when the feature is used. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to make repairs and improvements to the current site.

January 13, 2022 
• A production update was pushed today to resolve issues related to privated accounts being unable to interact with regular accounts. Please let us know if you’re using the private account feature and have any issues responding to regular posts.

January 10, 2022 
• Our development team has completed work on deploying our new v1.0 application in a development environment for our staff to do some early testing. First reviews are in and things appear to be going very well.

 

System Status

January 21, 2022 – 1:20am EST
• Our team monitored a brief disruption of services which caused connection resets for all active sessions, including live streamers. While this event was immediately visible to streamers, it was not limited to that service. We are continuing to investigate with the assistance of our hosting provider and will update you when a cause and solution are identified.

• All core site functionality is showing green.

 

Current Issues

January 16, 2022 – 11:45pm EST
• Some users have been reporting issues with the Facebook Import feature. After extensive testing both with sample data and a rather large (2.8GB) file of actual user data, the team feels confident that the feature is working properly. If you are experiencing issues with Facebook data imports, please first make sure you’ve downloaded your data in JSON format and have selected post data for inclusion. Videos and images will be included in that export. Once your file completes uploading to Flote, the import function can take some time so please be patient. You should begin to see data appear in your feed but it could take hours (or even days) for the import to complete, at which point you’ll receive a notification. If you continue to have issues with this feature, please contact alex@flote.app for assistance.

January 14, 2022 – 11:38am EST
• A new issue has been identified with the post engagement dialogue (the small “i” button on the lower right corner of each post) in which viewing post engagements and then closing the pop-up window causes the site to become unresponsive to scrolls and clicks. For now we recommend you avoid using this feature until it can be addressed.

January 10, 2022 – 5:48pm EST

• We are currently tracking an issue where attempts to create a new post generate an “Internal Server Error” message. In all reported cases, the post actually completes despite appearing not to. If you encounter this error, please reload the page to see if your post completed before attempting to redo the post. We’ll provide more information here when we have it. 

• Our Android APK is currently lagging behind the website and may be experiencing “File not found” errors on some configurations. The APK update has been completed but. it is awaiting a new security signature prior to deployment. We expect this to occur by the end of the week.

• We are aware of a long-term issue with the Notifications page where the count badge on the icon shows messages that are not visible and messages may appear or disappear. This issue is complex and may be deferred pending the v1.0 release in which the errors will not occur in the first place.

January 17, 2022 – 11:43pm EST

• Our team has been diligently trouble shooting the outage and at this point it appears to be resolved. We are awaiting an investigation report from our service provider which will hopefully provide more details as to the root cause and preventative measures we can take to avoid similar outages in the future. We are sorry for the down time and appreciate your understanding while we work these issues out with our provider.

9:30pm EST
• We are currently tracking a system outage / slowing event and have a support ticket open with our hosting provider to investigate. Our system components are showing green so we suspect there is some interruption inbetween our system and the internet that is causing the issue. We will report back when we know more.

January 12, 2022 – 1:29pm EST
• Our team has identified an issue with the “report post” function that was preventing reports from being sent. A fix has been developed and deployed to our testnet for review and should be pushed to the live site by the end of day today.

January 11, 2022 

• The issue with likes to image only posts breaking notifications appears to be resolved. Our back-end dev has tested it in dev and production and multiple team members are confirming it to be working properly. If you continue to see this bug, please clear your browser cache (or log in using a Chrome “Incognito” window) to confirm that the most recent updates are working on your browser / platform combination. And of course, please notify us if you are still experiencing the problem.

January 10, 2022

• There is an issue with “Liked” notifications on posts with only an image but no text which breaks the notification page. If you have created such a post and find your notifications cut off, please return to the post and add some text to it. This will serve as a work-around to the issue until we can identify and correct it.
